WDIV anchor Carmen Harlan to retire next month

fter four decades of being a staple in Detroit television, Carmen Harlan will sign of for the last time next month, WDIV announces today.
Harlan, one of the highest-ranking black female anchors at any news station, is arguably Detroit’s most beloved face on television.
“Local 4 is the station viewers turn to for the big story, the important story,” Harlan says. “I’m proud to say we have maintained our dominance over the decades, and I’m proud to have been a part of this team.”
After retirement from being in front of the camera, WDIV says Harlan will take on an ambassador role, working with promotional and special event projects.
The Detroit native is a graduate of Mumford High School and the University of Michigan. At WDIV, Harlan has anchored alongside Devin Scillian for over 20 years, becoming Detroit’s longest running anchor team.
Though her last broadcast will be November 11, Harlan will return to host America’s Thanksgiving Parade on November 24.
