ayne County has appointed Darnella Denise Williams as Assistant County Executive. Williams made the announcement this morning via Facebook, and Wayne County confirmed that her appointment begins November 1.

Under the county’s management structure, Williams in her position reports directly to Wayne County Executive Warren Evans. Evans has appointed two other assistant executives — Genelle Allen and June Lee — since taking office in 2015.

Williams was in the running for a Wayne County Circuit Court judicial seat earlier this year, until she was disqualified for submitting forged signatures on her nomination petitions.

The county recently exited a consent agreement with the state of Michigan, having put itself on a stable financial track in its efforts to recover from years of fiscal crisis.
