Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, and giving thanks. But it’s also a time when we can reach out to our communities and help those in need. Some of us wait especially for this time to think about giving and while there are many ways you can get involved this Thanksgiving in Detroit, Memphis, Atlanta and Chicago. We’re come up with six ways to get you started.

No matter how you choose to give back this Thanksgiving, your efforts will make a difference in the lives of others. And that’s something we can all be thankful for.}

Volunteer at a local soup kitchen or food bank.

Donate blood

Give away old or gently unused homes items to a local shelter.

Reach out to someone you know who may be alone or struggling this holiday season and offer a helping hand.

Participate in a turkey trot or food drive.
