The Detroit Dance City Festival Prepares to Welcome International Dancers and Choreographers

The Detroit Dance City Festival is back with workshops for intermediate dancers, performances and showcases, dance-related dialogues and more. Festival development officer Victoria Koski says, "It's just a gathering for dance lovers and people who would like to be exposed to dance but didn't think that it was approachable."
At least 10,000 visitors are expected to attend the three-day festival, events for which will take place between the Detroit Institute of Arts and the International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit Aug. 10-12 and will feature both local and internationally-renowned choreographers and dancers. Many of these artists have never been to Detroit, reminds Joori Jung, founder and president of ArtLab J – the festival's parent organization – saying, "They can learn about the city through this festival." Koski adds, "I hope that Detroiters come out and check it out. They can come and observe or come and participate. Dance is for everyone."
