This is the BEST brownie recipe! With crispy edges, fudgy centers and rich, chocolate flavor, these homemade brownies will disappear in no time.
For years I couldn’t seem to find a recipe for brownies that met my standards. Anytime I baked homemade brownies I wanted them to taste just like the ones I ate as a young girl on the west side of Detroit – super-fudgy, moist, and chocolatey, with crispy edges and crackly tops. But the thing is these brownies didn’t come from a recipe. We always made them from a box.

Best Homemade Brownies
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter 2 sticks
- 2 1/4 cup sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cup mini, semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt butter.
- Add sugar and stir until combined.
- Remove from heat and pour into heat-proof mixing bowl.
- Stir in eggs, one at a time.
- Add vanilla and stir until combined.
- Stir in cocoa powder, salt, baking powder and flour until combined.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Spread brownie batter into prepared, parchment-lined 9-by-13-inch pan.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick placed in the center comes out clean. Don’t over-bake.
