The 2022 North American International Auto Show in Detroit is BACK!

After a 3 and a half year hiatus, for better, the North American International Auto Show is officially back in Detroit at Huntington Place (formerly TCF Center), albeit in a very different time of year than you may remember. The Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) planned to move from January to June for the NAIAS, effective in 2020. However, as we all know, COVID-19 had other plans. NAIAS was ultimately cancelled for 2020 and 2021.

It was a very different experience attending NAIAS with sunshine and warmer temps, but one that you’ll enjoy nonetheless. The added outdoor NAIAS experience includes the Air Mobility Experience, which will focus on advances in transportation. This “Show Above the Show” will feature flight demonstrations and displays by six international air mobility innovators, including one homegrown Detroit startup. Expect to see everything from hoverboards and jet suits to electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and amphibious sport planes. The 2022 North American International Auto Show will definitely be one to remember

President Biden made a special visit on media day, taking a tour of some of the new vehicles on display. He also announced the approval of hundreds of millions of dollars that will be used to build electric vehicle chargers across 53,000 miles of the national highway system in 35 states.

Now that we’ve gotten the particulars out of the way, here are a few of our favorites from today.

Cadillac Lyriq

The Cadillac Lyriq made its world debut at NAIAS 2022. The all-new electric SUV is the first from Cadillac built on General Motors’ new BEV3 platform and is a major step in the brand’s journey to an all-electric future. The Lyriq will offer over 300 miles of range, thanks in part to its Ultium battery technology. It will also feature Super Cruise, GM’s industry-first hands-free driver assistance system for compatible roads and highways.

Ford Bronco 2023 Heritage Edition

The Ford Bronco 2023 Heritage Edition was one of my most anticipated reveals at NAIAS 2022. This special edition is a tribute to the original 1965 Bronco and will be available in two colors: Aspen White or Antimatter Blue. It will have a blacked-out grille, 17-inch wheels, and 32-inch all-terrain tires. The interior will feature vintage-inspired materials like salt-washed denim seat inserts.
