Ta-Nehisi Coates to speak at University of Detroit Mercy in April

The MacArthur Genius Grant awardee will discuss his groundbreaking book “Between the World and Me.”

Ta-Nehisi Coates, the acclaimed journalist, National Book Award winner and author of “Between the World and Me” and Marvel’s current “Black Panther” comic series, will deliver a lecture at University of Detroit Mercy on April 4.
Coates, a writer for The Atlantic and a MacArthur Genius Grant awardee, will discuss “World,” a book addressed to his son about the meaning of being black in America. He is, per the New York Observer, "the single best writer on the subject of race in the United States."
The author’s talk will be held at Detroit Mercy’s Calihan Hall at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, or free to Detroit Mercy students with valid university ID.
