Riding for Wellness: Annual Motofest Ride and Festival to be held in Detroit June 4th

On Saturday, June 4, 2022 Sowing Empowerment and Economic Development, Inc. (SEED), will welcome bikers, patrons and supporters back for Detroit’s “MotoFest2022.” The theme of the annual motorcycle ride and festival is “Wellness Begins at Home” and will highlight the importance of resources and opportunities to bring financial and physical wellness to our communities.

In partnership with Wolverine Harley-Davidson and citywide motorcycle affiliates, the in-person ride and festival will be held in metro Detroit beginning with a coordinated 32-mile ride from Axemen Detroit Clubhouse and ending at the Wolverine Harley-Davidson dealership.

The festival will allow patrons to explore community and county services and learn about educational opportunities for the surrounding areas. “MotoFest2022” will also feature entertainment, food trucks, and beverage stations throughout the festival. In addition, nonprofit and university partners will host hands-on health and wellness activities for all ages.

“We’re excited to be riding again in Detroit to promote access to resources for the health and wellness of our communities city-wide,” said SEED Vice President Nichole Mattison. “The pandemic put a pause on the last two years for this annual event while the need has continued to grow, this event will allow the great clubs and other groups from across the city and opportunity to lend their support.”

“We are proud to be a part of this worthwhile cause,” said David Derksen, president of the Axemen Detroit Motorcycle Club. “We invite all riders and enthusiasts to join us this year. You can ride, run or drive. You just have to get there.”

Online tickets for riders and festival-goers are available at bit.ly/seedmotofest2022 for $25 per motorcyclist; $15 for additional rider, which includes ride fee and festival entry; and $10 for festival goers.

Pre-purchased tickets are encouraged and required to enjoy the festival. Proceeds will allow SEED to continue to provide homebuyer education, counseling, access to closing cost assistance programs, and emergency food to the community.
