Rainbow Push Marches on Woodward

ainbow PUSH Michigan and its supporters from across the state recently marched along Detroit’s most prominent street to call attention to national and local issues. 

“We marched in the tradition and memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” says the Rev. D. Alexander Bullock, president of the Rainbow PUSH Detroit Chapter. “Forty-nine years ago, he articulated a vision for freedom, full employment and non-violence. 

“Today, we still crusade for full employment, push for an end to violence and fight to protect our freedom. We continue a movement for peace and voter protection.”

He says the organization’s movement also aims to curb violence and “rekindle the spirit of struggle” in youth.

“In our next phase, we will call college age citizens to action and take our demands to Congress,” he says.
