Monica Conyers to host new show on 910AM Superstation

ormer Detroit City Council President Monica Conyers will debut a new show on 910-AM on September 25, the latest prominent voice in the station’s lineup of on-air hosts.

Conyers’ show will air at 1 p.m. on Sundays.

No word on what topics will be discussed on the show, but Conyers has never been one to hold back what she feels.

“I am excited to have Monica Conyers join us on 910AM Superstation where I think she’ll be bringing hope and inspiration to many people,” station owner Kevin Adell says in a news release.

Conyers is one of several hosts who have faced political or legal trouble in their pre-radio careers. Conyers, of course, served federal time following a wide-ranging investigation into corruption.

Fellow 910 host Ralph Godbee resigned as chief of Detroit Police after allegedly having a relationship with DPD Internal Affairs officer; hosts Cindy Gamrat and Todd Courser were expelled from the Michigan House of Representatives after using taxpayer resources to cover up their affair; and former mayoral chief of staff Christine Beatty resigned her position and spent 120 days in jail for lying under oath about having an affair with former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.

Controversy aside, 910 has slowly built an audience in Detroit talk radio with topics aimed at black listeners. The station broke into the Nielsen ratings for the first time this July since changing formats.
