Issa Rae to speak at University of Michigan on MLK day

The Golden Globe-nominated actress will participate in a sit-down discussion with Democracy Now! journalist Amy Goodman.

Golden Globe-nominated actress/black millennial shero Issa Rae of HBO’s “Insecure” and web series “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl” will co-headline a keynote address at the University of Michigan on the King holiday.
Rae will participate in a sit-down discussion with Democracy Now! journalist and author Amy Goodman as part of a monthlong symposium honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the University.
The discussion will be centered around “sounds of change,” the theme of this year’s symposium.
“The symposium is not only about celebrating activism, it is also supports our community members in building their skill and commitment toward social justice. We want courageous dialogue to lead to critical action within and outside of the university,” sLumas J. Helaire, Chair of the MLK Symposium Planning Committee, says in a news release from the university.
The discussion is 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at U-M’s Hill Auditorium, and is free and open to the public. For more information, click here.
