Historic Little Rock Baptist Church celebrates Rev. James Holley

nown just as well for his wide range of business related and philanthropic accomplishments as his ministry, the Rev. James Holley will celebrate his 40th pastoral anniversary with the Historic Little Rock Baptist Church Sunday, Oct. 7.
Born in Philadelphia, Holley took on the role of pastor at Little Rock Baptist Church back in 1972, after receiving his Masters of Divinity in the Old Testament Chicago Theological Seminary. He received his Doctorate of Philosophy in Higher Education from Wayne State University.
In addition to penning 10 spiritually-inspired books (another entitled God is Still in the Miracle Business is anticipated for releas this year), Rev. Holley also has won numerous awards, including the 1990 Michiganian of the Year by the Detroit News.
“Rev. Holley is still the senior pastor at Little Rock and plans to continue as such,” Little Rock Baptist Church Trustee Maurice Morton says. “The congregation would like to see him make it to his 50th Anniversary.”
Little Rock Baptist Church will be honoring Rev. Holley’s 40 years-and-counting at the Book Cadillac Hotel. The event will include dinner and live entertainment. The Rev. Wendell Anthony, president of Detroit’s branch of the NAACP is the featured speaker.
