ow do you take a Texan concept and drop it into the Motor City?
With the slogan “Founded in Austin. Made in Detroit,” Terrance Jones, owner and founder of First Class Committee, has been answering that question by creating new T-shirts and apparel with an urban sensibility since 2014. He produces the line himself, giving it a personal touch other apparel companies can’t fess up to. And while he started the concept in Texas, Jones has made a distinctly Detroit catalogue recognizable to anyone living in the D.
“My goal is to showcase and support Detroit’s creative community by collaborating with local artists,” Jones says. “It all shines a light back where it all started – Detroit. That’s what makes me happy and keeps me doing what I do.”
