In fashion spread in the September issue is called “Fall for Black Love.” Here are some of the fall trends we highlighted worth being passionate about:

FOR WOMEN

Colors and silhouettes:
The time is now-add some red into your wardrobe. Don’t be scared. No more excuses. Try Detroit design team Eugenia Paul’s (Eugeniapaul@sbcglobal.net) high-waisted, wide-leg slacks. Very grown, ladies. Very grown.

Please, don't sleep on the red hair donned by cover model Nyanyai Deng, just for B.L.A.C. magazine.

Makeup:
Makeup is refined, polished, smooth, barely there. This season, let your makeup gracefully tone down as your bold clothing and accessory textures and color make the statement. Learn how by taking a class with international makeup professional Shalonda A. You owe it to yourself.

Texture statements:
Faux is best, but let us not be lax on the fur this fall and winter. No need for a matching hat. However, do rock a vest…with EVERYTHING-slacks, a long or short skirt, a dress, with jeans, leggings, belt, no belt. For extra sass, put an off-the-shoulder top underneath. Get into it. Love it.

Feather earrings:

FOR MEN

Texture statements:
You can wear texture, too. I’ll confess I’m in love with (and really had a dream about) the textured, black Armani sweater model David Newberry is wearing in the MGM Grand Detroit suite foyer cozy couple shot. I’m totally saving up now so my honey can get one for Kwanzaa.

We can’t ignore how a scarf can step your entire outfit up. Gentlemen, again, layers in different textures will get you somewhere in life. Keep it all smoothed out with a calm loafer.

FOR WOMEN AND MEN

Glam it up:
When in doubt, go glam. What’s the point of putting on clothes and going out at night, if you’re not going to really get dressed? Love the glitzy, mini cocktail number on Nyanyai. Men, I’m all for a button-down shirt and jeans-great look. What if this fall we stepped it up, but kept it cool, with light washed denim, a tuxedo jacket and velvet bow tie?
