Detroit-based artist Errin Whitaker, also known as “Lightheart,” is set to showcase his latest work in an upcoming exhibition titled “Saving Our Sons.” The event will take place on Saturday, June 10th, from 6 PM to 9 PM at the Norwest Gallery of Art in Detroit, MI. This exhibition aims to connect communities and provide healing through art by addressing distressed events that many can relate to in their own environments.
About Errin Whitaker
Originally from Flint, Michigan, Errin has lived in Detroit for over a decade and has been an artist for three years. He gained a passion for art through his grandmother “Bamm” when he was a young boy. Errin has had many pieces displayed in art galleries throughout the Metro Detroit Area and is a true definition of a “360 Degree” artist. With a background in community development and education, Errin holds a master’s degree in elementary education from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Errin’s love for his daughter, his strong support for social justice, and his passion for beauty, self-love, and the African American community are evident in his work. He creates art about black people, for black people, and for anyone who can appreciate his work. Errin’s art often speaks out against social injustice issues and showcases the struggle within the African American culture.

Saving Our Sons Exhibition
The “Saving Our Sons” exhibition will feature a curated collection of Errin’s art visuals, canvas paintings, and sculptures. These pieces are a culmination of his creative expressions, ancestor lineage, and self-reflections/inner child healing. The exhibition aims to inspire self-care through relating and reflecting, providing a space for solace and healing.
