DJ Khaled Song, Featuring Eminem and Kanye West, Tops Billboard’s Gospel Charts

“Use This Gospel (Remix),” featuring Detroiter Eminem and Chicago-bred Kanye West, topped Billboard’s Christian and Gospel charts while also reaching the 49th spot on the Hot 100. The song by DJ Khaled appears in his recent album “God Did.” While hitting the top of any music chart is a feat on its own, fans were particularly surprised by Eminem’s profession of faith.

Marshall Mathers III, more popularly known by his stage name Eminem, has long been a target of tremendous praise and criticism in the music business. He was previously the focus of a congressional hearing in 2001 where members of the House Telecommunications Subcommittee denounced him for writing songs that they viewed as violent and obscene, according to Billboard. The rapper has shocked his audience with this brand-new song in which he confesses his faith in Jesus.

“Use This Gospel (Remix)” was released on Aug. 26, and Kanye West’s 2019 album “Jesus Is King” also contains a remix of the same song that also stirred debates regarding West’s religious views. DJ Khaled’s song debuted at No. 1 according to a tweet from the @billboardcharts account. With this record, Eminem and Khaled all earned their first top rankings on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart, while this record is West’s fifth.

“To compare Godliness to an atheist/But I got them audiences raving/in amidst my squabbles/I got some awesome inspiration to draw from, off ’em/Pen and paper, I’m knockin’ ’em off,” Eminem raps in his verse. “Woke up on stage at a concert/Whole place looking like a mosh pit/Bible at my side like a rifle with a God-given gift/Every single day I thank God for/That’s why I pay so much homage/Praises to Jesus, I’ll always.”

Eminem grew up in Detroit, and, while Los Angeles, California remains one of the centers of pop music and American entertainment, the musician has opted to remain closer to the city where he grew up. He owns a home in Rochester Hills, Detroit and another in Clinton Township, Michigan, which reportedly is his primary residence according to the Detroit Free Press.
