The Lip Bar, a Detroit-grown beauty enterprise, celebrates its fifth anniversary Tuesday night in the city.

The beauty brand, which manufactures vegan, gluten-free and paraben-free lipsticks, gained notoriety when its co-founders Melissa Butler and Rosco Spears appeared on ABC’s “Shark Tank,” but were rejected.

That didn’t stop the duo, who ramped up their brand with more online offerings and a mobile boutique. The brand is also carried on Target's website.

Tonight, The Lip Bar celebrates with a free event open to the public at CLUBHOUSE Detroit, located at 6540 St. Antoine St., Detroit.
