Detroit’s Own Kash Doll Announces New Music Coming in 2023

MNRK Music Group (MNRK) announced a new deal with Detroit rapper Kash Doll, brokered by TITLE 9 Inc. Under this new global deal, Kash Doll will release a full-length project due in early 2023. She will also bring an as-yet-untitled imprint to the MNRK fold, where she will also bring new talent to the label. A beautiful resolution to an awful legal battle of an artist against their label — it seems that Kash Doll has found a music partner on her terms with MNRK Music Group. Alan Grunblatt, MNRK’s President of Urban Music, said, “We are thrilled to be in business with Kash Doll. To quote our friend Royce 5’9″, in his song ‛Overcomer’ — ‛The best rapper between Cardi and Meg Thee Stallion is Kash Doll.’”

For two years, Kash was embroiled in a legal battle with her former label BMB Records and, in that time, was barred from releasing original music on streaming platforms. She signed her first deal in 2015, thinking it would make her work easier. Instead, she says, her career was held hostage. Kash Doll said, “I’m thrilled to join the MNRK family. The team shares my vision for my artistry and supports my goas of finding new, incredible talent!” MNRK’s urban roster includes chart-topping and award-winning artists like Blueface, DJ Drama, Sevyn Streeter, K Michelle, producer Zaytoven, and is home to Benny the Butcher’s Black Soprano Family, RZA’s “36 Chambers” releases, and Jim Jones’ “Byrdgang 2.0.”

Kash Doll’s 2019 debut album “Stacked” included the hit single “Ice Me Out” and reached the Top 15 on Billboard’s Rap Album Sales Charts, amassing over 122 million streams on Spotify alone and contributing to the single going RIAA Certified Gold. She has worked with rap and R&B luminaries including Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Big Sean, Wale, 2Chainz, Summer Walker, Teyana Taylor, and fellow MNRK artist K. Michelle. She has appeared on the soundtracks for “Space Jam 2: A New Legacy” and “Charlie’s Angels.” In addition to her music career, Kash Doll has honed her acting skills, appearing in Fox’s mega-hit show “Empire” and has a recurring role on the 50 Cent Starz Originals hit “BMF” series. Kash first entered the entertainment industry as an exotic dancer — loving the money, but resenting the work. She started rapping in 2013 with the encouragement of her ex-boyfriend, slain Detroit MC Dex Osama. After her remix of Tinashe’s “2 On” took off on Detroit radio the following year, she stepped away from the strip club and focused completely on music.

As Kash’s popularity grew, she arranged for photographers, videographers, engineers, producers, and co-writers independently and paid them out of her own pocket. She was booking her own shows across the Midwest and traveling alone. For her birthday in March 2015, Kash scored a concert at Detroit’s storied Saint Andrew’s Hall, selling it out by peddling tickets by hand across the city. “To this day I be like, ‘How the fuck did I do that?’,” she said. A week later, she signed a deal with BMB Records, a small record label in Detroit.
