Detroit’s Most Streamed Actor, Alphonso Settles Stars in Revenge Thriller, ‘Cut Throat’

Detroit’s most-streamed actor of 2022, Alphonso Settles, is ready to release yet another film, this one just in time for the new year. Cut Throat is the story of a young woman who tries to adjust after losing her mother to street violence, ultimately seeking revenge. Alphonso’s character is Michael, a street-savvy drug dealer who falls into the clutches of a dirty cop. Cut Throat is directed by Detroiter Dee Flynn.

Proclaimed Detroit’s Favorite Actor at the Detroit Filmmaker Awards, Settles has starred in 27 major projects in the last few years, on platforms including The Peacock Network, Netflix, Amazon, and the local favorite, Tubi.

With his most recent films garnering over 1 million views each, it’s safe to say he’s been getting attention from fans, especially in his hometown.

Alphonso’s career began as a model in the metro Detroit area where he participated in local shows and events, and was eventually tapped for acting roles. His first film was Ovid and the Art of Love, starring John Savage (Godfather III) and Corbin Bleu (High School Musical). Settles appeared in his first television sitcom, “My Step Kidz,” alongside Clifton Powell (Next Friday) and Rodney Perry (Johnson Family Vacation) in the spring of 2019 on My TV 20.
