Yesterday, Michigan got a chance to choose a Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State and all the members of the Michigan State Legislature in the 2022 midterm elections. There was so much as stake, including proposals to change the Michigan Constitution — especially around state abortion rights, and limiting our voting rights. Of course Michigan showed out in record numbers; Bridge Michigan is reporting, as of Wednesday morning, with 88 percent of votes counted, turnout had already exceeded 2018’s record-breaking 4.25 million voters.
What you will notice on the faces of our elected officials is that they are mostly women and mostly white women; aside from Erika Geiss and Sylvia Santana, our state senators and Tyrone Carter, our Michigan House representative; black people as a whole are a small percentage of our state represented elected officials. BLAC wanted you to know your Black state elected officials. Here are the results.

Michigan chose Gretchen Whitmer for another four years, re-electing the Democratic governor who ushered us through the pandemic and vowed to fight “like hell” for abortion rights.

Michigan has 38 Districts with Erika Geiss being one of our Michigan State Representatives for District #1 winning with 50,000 votes.
Sylvia Santana is our 2nd State Representative for District #2 winning with 32,000 votes

Jocelyn Benson is our Secretary of State with over 2m votes.

Dana Nessel is Michigan’s Attorney General winning with 2.2m votes.
2022 Michigan State House Election Results
Tyrone Carter won this seat by 13,000 votes.

Brian Zahra won with 1.3 and Richard Bernstein won with 1.8m
