Danny Brown back with new single, ‘When it Rain’

Danny Brown is back.  A rapper with a unique sound of intense high-pitched vocals, blunt lyrics, and obscene visuals, the Detroit native dropped a surprise single today and announced his third, forthcoming album on a new label.

“With the blessing of my Fools Gold family by my side, I'm excited to be working with Warp [Records] on new material,” Brown says, preceding the release of “When it Rain,” a static, hyper tribute with electronic dance elements. “They're music fans to the same high degree I am and I'm looking forward to breaking some rules together.”

In the video, Brown pays homage to jit, the footwork-intensive dance born on the streets of Detroit in the 1970s, interplayed between scenes – pretty and not-so-pretty – around the city.

With an official co-sign from MTV as one of hip-hop’s luminaries, Brown’s previous songs include “25 Bucks,” “I Will," and “Fields” — not to mention his collaboration Eminem’s all-star collaboration “Detroit vs. Everybody” (not to be confused with the clothing brand, of course) that also featured Big Sean, Dej Loaf, Royce da 5’9″ and Trick Trick.
