Nice to See Them Still Holding Strong

Til death due us part isn’t really the case in the marriages of today. Growing old together seems like a thing of the past; especially in those “Hollywood” marriages.

Everyone was shocked when Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries ended after just 72 days, but there have been marriages shorter than that.

Who could forget Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds clocking in at just two weeks? Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra called it quits after six days and Brittany Spears married a nobody and ended that after just two days.

Then there were those who lasted longer than Kim and Kris, but short none the less.  Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock did a 4 month stint as did Jennifer Lopez and her back-up dancer, Chris Judd.

That said, it is nice to see some couples are making it last. Grant and Tamia Hill along with Will and Jada Pinkett Smith are celebrating 13 and 14 years respectively. President and First Lady Obama recently had their 20 year anniversary. 

Topping out our group today is Denzel and Pauletta Washington. They have 29 years of marriage under their belts and Denzel credits distance for their success, noting time spent away filming probably helped their marriage rather than hinder it.

He says, “Hollywood gets a bad rap; it's just a place with some footprints in cement. I don't live there, I live in Los Angeles. But it's probably helped our marriage that we're apart a lot.”

With Denzel filming a little less these days and their children all grown up, he and Pauletta recently had a Portofino, Italy getaway.  Don’t they look happy?

Keep Her in Your Prayers

According to her mother, Lark Voorhies, best known as Lisa Turtle from “Saved by the Bell,” is battling a bipolar disorder.

Of course if you ask Lisa, she would tell you nothing is wrong.  However, her mother, Tricia, says she was diagnosed. “People” magazine recently sat down with Lark and her mother and got a first-hand look.

It was noted that during the interview Lark would stop mid-sentence and stare off, often mumbling to herself and “others” who weren’t there. When questioned about the behavior, Lark said, “I have a strong spiritual sense, you caught me in moments of pray [sic].” 

Lark’s mother says, “there are things that have traumatized her. I care deeply about my daughter and I want her to resume her life."

Her mother shares a home with her to which Lark says her mother is over-loving and there’s no need, she is not sick. Hope things work out.  

Nicki, It’s Been Real-Or Has it?

In case you haven’t heard, there was a “situation” between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey during “American Idol” auditions. While the video posted by “TMZ” didn’t have the best audio, we now know exactly what was said.  Mariah interviewed with Barbara Walters and let it all out.

Apparently, Nicki said, “If I had a gun, I would shoot the b***h.” This outburst was brought on due to the two disagreeing on a contestant’s audition. 

Mariah states that everyone from the hairdresser to the producers heard the comment and in her words, she “doesn’t feel comfortable emotionally.” I guess you could say Nicki has apologized in her own way as she later told Mariah, “I love you, but we might fight again.”

Yeah, okay. Anyway, to that Mariah responded, “No, we will not.” So, I ask….When is Nicki leaving and who will be the new judge on “American Idol?” 

Wait, there are two sides to every story. Maybe we should hold out to hear what Nicki has to say. Well, Barbara Walters extended the invitation-let’s see if Nicki takes her up on it. Stay tuned.
