Black Legends’ Performances at The Carr Center Now Available on Comcast

Michigan Xfinity subscribers will be able to see recordings of ground-breaking Black musical performances at The Carr Center.

More than 1 million Michigan Xfinity video subscribers will be able to see groundbreaking Black musical performances thanks to a partnership between The Carr Center and Comcast. “The Carr Center Presents,” which will include 10 concerts, will be aired on Comcast. Viewers may use Xfinity On Demand, Xfinity Stream, and Comcast Network 900 (CN 900) to watch the concerts.
“The Comcast audience will be among the first to experience the Duo & Duets series featuring some of the top names and legendary artists in jazz,” Carr Center President and CEO Oliver Ragsdale, Jr. said in a press release. “And there will be more unique and special programming in the upcoming fall and winter seasons.”
The Carr Center has established itself as one of the nation’s premier venues for the presentation of African American artists across all genres. The center bears Virgil Carr’s name, a late community and arts activist who served as The United Way of Detroit’s president and chief executive officer. Within Detroit, The center is committed to the preservation, display, promotion, and growth of the African and African American cultural arts traditions.
The concerts included in “The Carr Center Presents” programming are:
- A Poet’s Poet: The Legacy of Naomi Long Madgett
- The Gathering Orchestra in Concert
- Duos & Duets with Terri Lyne Carrington and Danilo Perez
- Duos & Duets with Ben Williams & Marcus Williams plus their guest Jean Baylor
- Duos & Duets with Ms. Lisa Fischer and Louis Cato
- Duos & Duets with Patrice Rushen and Billy Childs
- Duos & Duets with Thornetta Davis and friends
- Duos & Duets with Jack DeJohnette and Terri Lyne Carrington plus their guest Matthew Garrison
- Duo & Duets with Terri Lyne Carrington, Danilo Pérez and their guest Sonia Sanchez
- The Gathering Orchestra Nonet in Concert
