American Heart Association Offers Scholarships to Women of Color

n an effort to increase the number of women of color working in the medical field, the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women™ and Macy’s have joined to offer the Go Red™ Multicultural Scholarship Fund.
The Association of American Medical Colleges has reported that 6.7 percent of African-Americans and 7.5 percent of Hispanics made up the total number of medical school graduates in 2010.
Sixteen $2,500 national scholarships are being offered for a second year to multicultural women pursuing higher education in health care.
Candidates must complete an application, personal essay and submit two letters of recommendation. Online applications are available through Nov. 30, 2012.
