Local cosmetologist helps women with cancer look good and feel better

cosmetologist for nearly 30 years, Valerie Austin is no stranger to the importance of personal beauty and aesthetics.
Her mother’s victorious battle with cancer, and her sister’s defeat from the disease pushed her to merge these two passions. So Austin opened Always Hair 4 U Salon in Southfield to help women with cancer "look good and feel better."
Austin specializes in hair wraps, custom wigs, and scalp conditioning. Makeup artists stencil eyebrows and lashes.
"I wanted to open my own salon to cater to these women. Help them look their best and feel their best," says Austin. “It’s the look on their faces when they see a mirror-that 'wow' look. That makes me love doing this.
