A Trio of Dominican-American, Women Artists Debut Latest Work at Red Bull House of Art

Girls may not run the world quite yet, but these three Dominican-American ladies are certainly punching through the art scene with brio. They're Lucia Hierro, Joiri Minaya and Gina Goico, and the trio have been living and working in Detroit – hailing from New York City – since January as Red Bull House of Art residents. Now, they're set to debut their latest works in a new exhibition opening April 6 and continuing through May 19 (Saturdays only).
"Through self-examination, cultural memory and identity empowerment, these artists illustrate the innumerable challenges women still face today and the ingenious methods and bold actions they employ to balance the scales," says Red Bull House of Art director and curator Matt Eaton. "In each of their works, we find a common language in bright colors, fanciful aesthetics and tropical resonance juxtaposed with honest, unexpected imagery and cultural artifacts."
