Formed November 16, 1937 by Anna Mae Black Robinson, Vivian Pitts, and Cleo Ball, the Chicago Women's Golf Club is the oldest African American women's golf club in the Midwest. Its home course was Pipe-O-Peace (later Joe Louis Golf Course); its UGA-sanctioned Memorial Tournaments drew the top Black professionals. In 1956 it became the first Black organization admitted to the USGA — largely so member Ann Gregory could compete in USGA championships. Its Bob-O-Links junior program (1954) continues today.
