The cannabis industry is forecast to grow to $30 billion by 2025, and Method Man wants a piece of the pie for his community. The cannabis entrepreneur is set to launch his TICAL brand in five Black-owned Detroit dispensaries this week, including Remedy, House of Zen, House of Mary Jane, West Coast Meds, and Viola.
TICAL, named after Method Man’s 1994 album “Taking Into Consideration All Lives,” will offer a pre-rolled joint called “Sweet Island Skunk” in partnership with Rochester Hills-based Glorious Cannabis Co.
Method Man launched the brand last June with the intention of working with and elevating Black and other minority business owners in the cannabis space.
As the cannabis industry continues to grow, it’s important that people of color have a seat at the table. Thanks to brands like TICAL, that goal is one step closer to becoming a reality.
TICAL is focused on making sure that Black-owned dispensaries have access to quality products.
Nathaniel Vereen, TICAL’s co-founder, said that the company’s mission, “aligns with the diverse, working-class people of Michigan, the kind of people Method Man grew up with.”
“We know that African Americans and many of Michigan’s diverse communities have had a very hard time entering the regulated Michigan market,” Vereen told the Ganjapreneur.
By launching its products in Black-owned dispensaries, TICAL is helping to break down barriers and making sure that everyone has access to quality cannabis products.
