mong national metropolitan areas, the Detroit-Warren-Livonia metro area had one of the largest unemployment percentage decreases, according to a report released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The unemployment rate fell from 11.1 percent in April 2011 to 8.7 percent last month. The region of El Centro, Calif. also had a 2.4 percentage drop.
Statewide, unemployment decreased from 10.1 percent in April 2011 to 8.0 percent in April 2012. Nationally, the unemployment rate in April was 7.7 percent, not seasonally adjusted, down from 8.7 percent a year earlier.
