BLAC Brief | Houston
Houston-area restaurants are showing appreciation for veterans this Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, with complimentary meals, desserts and dining discounts.
Among them is The Savoy, located in Houston’s historic Third Ward, which will offer veterans a choice of fried rice, burgers or wings from 3 to 5 p.m. Women veterans will also receive cake and Champagne during Ladies Night. The restaurant plans to deliver meals in a SLAB car to five veterans with mobility limitations. Requests can be sent to info@thesavoyhtx.com.
TASTE Kitchen + Bar will serve free breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at its downtown Houston and Sugar Land locations, while EMA Japanese Cuisine in The Woodlands will offer veterans 50% off from noon to 4 p.m.
Other participating restaurants include:
- Winsome Prime: Complimentary red velvet cake.
- Confessions: Free dessert from the menu.
- Juliet HTX: Complimentary Brussels sprouts or calamari.
- Fielding’s Wood Grill, Local Kitchen + Bar and STEAK: Free burger and fries during designated lunch hours.
- Twin Peaks: Free meal from a select menu at five Houston-area locations, with a beverage purchase required.
For Black veterans, whose service stretches from the Buffalo Soldiers and Tuskegee Airmen to today’s armed forces, Veterans Day is also a reminder of generations who served their country while fighting for equal treatment at home.
The offers provide a small opportunity for Houston to recognize that service, share a meal and say thank you.
Veterans should confirm participating hours, military identification requirements and offer details directly with each restaurant before visiting.
