This is the BEST brownie recipe! With crispy edges, fudgy centers and rich, chocolate flavor, these homemade brownies will disappear in no time.

For years I couldn’t seem to find a recipe for brownies that met my standards. Anytime I baked homemade brownies I wanted them to taste just like the ones I ate as a young girl on the west side of Detroit – super-fudgy, moist, and chocolatey, with crispy edges and crackly tops. But the thing is these brownies didn’t come from a recipe. We always made them from a box.

These days I prefer to bake from scratch, but no brownie recipe I tried could live up to the chocolate brownies of my childhood.

Ingredients

•1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
•2 1/4 cup sugar
•4 large eggs
•2 tsp vanilla extract
•1 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
•1 tsp salt
•1 1/2 tsp baking powder
•1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
•2 cup mini, semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a saucepan over low heat, melt butter.

Add sugar and stir until combined.

Remove from heat and pour into heat-proof mixing bowl.

Stir in eggs, one at a time.

Add vanilla and stir until combined.

Stir in cocoa powder, salt, baking powder and flour until combined.

Stir in chocolate chips.

Spread brownie batter into prepared, parchment-lined 9-by-13-inch pan.

Bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick placed in the center comes out clean. Don’t over-bake.
